Urban Camping in Connecticut

Urban Camping

Though the Dutch were the first to explore Connecticut and establish trading posts, it was not long before Pilgrims from Massachusetts discovered the rich soil and warm climate the area provided and ousted the Dutch to create farms. Discovering that the land was limited, the people of Connecticut turned to manufacturing as a livelihood. Today, the state is known for its manufacturing of jet engines, helicopters, and submarines. With its 250 miles of sandy beaches on Long Island Sound, the Litchfield Mountains in the state’s northwest, and the unspoiled Connecticut River Valley, the state attracts thousands of travelers each year looking for where to urban camp in Connecticut and finding cities like Bridgeport, New Haven, Stamford, and Hartford.
