#1. Lake Compounce Theme Park

Touted as “Connecticut’s Best Amusement Park & Water Park” and the oldest continuously operating amusement park in North America, Lake Compounce Theme Park in Bristol is definitely a good choice. Coasters, kiddie rides, a beach, and a waterpark all come together to ensure everyone has a great time. 

Tickets for this theme park are $49.99 for a single day ticket. With all there is to see and do in the park, you can easily spend an entire day here, meaning you will definitely get your money’s worth.

#2. Quassy Amusement & Waterpark

Another large park, Quassy Amusement and Waterpark is located in Middlebury. This park is one of only 11 remaining “Trolley Parks” in the country. Founded in 1908, the park is still popular today and offers guests a wide variety of attractions.

Single day tickets to this park are around $20–$40, depending on when you visit, what you want to do, and how tall you are. These prices are well worth what you get in return!

Branch Brook Campground — Located just 20 minutes from all the fun Quassy Amusement & Waterpark has to offer, Branch Brook Campground is a great place to relax. This lovely park features a pool, community garden, game room, and more. It does book up regularly, so be sure to snag your site early!

#3. Brownstone Adventure Sports Park

Brownstone Adventure Sports Park is a different kind of amusement park. Instead of rollercoasters and carousels, this park features zip lines, wakeboarding, a rope swing, water slides, opportunities to swim, and more. We highly recommend this Portland, CT park to those who want to have fun while being active. 

Day passes are available and range in price from $39–$59, depending on what you want to do. Those who will visit many times should consider a season pass, which offers unlimited access to park attractions and amenities for the whole summer.

Looking for a spot to park your RV while you play at Brookstone Adventure Sports Park? There are a handful of campgrounds in the area, but our favorite of the bunch is listed below.

It’s also a good idea to take a look at the activities offered and decide what you and your family want to do before buying tickets. Finally, it’s important to keep in mind that because many of the activities at this park are water-based, it’s more fun when the weather is warm.

#4. The Adventure Park at Storrs

Another adventure park that allows you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Connecticut, The Adventure Park at Storrs is a super fun pick. As you might have guessed, this park is located in Storrs. It features attractions like rope courses and ziplines that weave you in and out of the trees. 

The cost to visit this park is between $12 and $54 depending on age, time of day, and whether you purchase tickets in advance.

Obviously, a place to stay is necessary while visiting The Adventure Park at Storrs. This is where an RV can come into play. The RV park below is the ideal place to park a rig and rest for the night. 

Wilderness Lake Campground — Easy access to the highway makes visiting attractions from Wilderness Lake Campground a cinch. Prefer to stay in the campground some of the time? There are plenty of great ways to pass the time in the park, including mini golf, hiking trails, a lake for swimming and boating, a game room, and more.

It’s important to understand that The Adventure Park at Storrs features attractions that require climbing and other physical activities. You do need to be in fairly good shape to fully enjoy the park. 

Think The Adventure Park at Storrs sounds fun but you need something in a different area? Look into The Adventure Park at the Discovery Museum, which is very similar and run by the same great people. 

#5. Empower Adventure Park at Nomads

Yet another fantastic adventure park, Empower Adventure Park at Nomads offers guests hours of fun in the treetops. Six adventure courses feature over 80 different obstacles, meaning you can easily fill a day exploring this South Windsor park. 

Tickets are $44 for ages 7–11 when booked online, and $49 when you buy at the door. Adults ages 12 and up can expect to pay $54 online and $59 at the door. Children under 7 years are not allowed to participate.

Nelson’s Family Campground — Although it is a 35-minute drive from Empower Adventure Park, we simply have to recommend that you stay at Nelson’s Family Campground. This place is chock-full of fun. Exciting themed weekends fill the summer, the staff is beyond welcoming, and a game room, pool, and playground are all available.

Because it’s such a popular attraction, climbing reservations are highly recommended at Empower Adventure Park at Nomads. Also, keep in mind that this experience does require some physical strength, and while the goal of the park is to empower visitors, depending on your fitness level, you may not be able to do it all. 

#6. Thrillz High Flying Adventure Park

The ideal amusement park during cold or rainy weather, Danbury’s Thrillz High Flying Adventure Park is completely indoors. The main attraction here is the soft, fun, and challenging obstacle course. That said, there are plenty of other attractions as well. These include an arcade, VR roller coasters, axe throwing, and laser tag. 

At Thrillz, you pay per activity. “Fly Time” tickets allow you access to the climbing, zip lining, jumping fun of the obstacle course and cost between $14 and $29, depending on how much time you want. From there, you can add other activities for a fee.

Hoping to take your RV when you visit Thrillz High Flying Adventure Park? Lucky for you, there is camping in the area. We really like the campground listed below when staying near Danbury. 

Cozy Hills Campground — Whether you prefer traditional activities such as fishing and swimming or something unique like laser tag or archery, there’s something for you at Cozy Hills Campground. Themed weekends add to the fun, and although you’ll have to drive 45 minutes to get to Thrillz Adventure Park, we think it’s worth the drive.

It should be noted that children under 48 inches are not allowed in the obstacle course at Thrillz. That said, they are allowed in the Jumpz trampoline park located just next door. Another thing you’ll want to know going in? The vast majority of participants are tweens and teens, and all minors need to have a waiver signed by a parent to enter.

#7. Urban Air Adventure Park

Another fantastic indoor option for those chilly winter days, Urban Air Adventure Park is found in Orange and offers fun for the whole family. Attractions at this park include climbing spots, a huge airbag for jumping onto, trampolines, a tumble runway, a ropes course, a warrior course, bumper cars, bowling, and more. 

There are three tiers of tickets that range in price from $27.99 to $45.99. Make sure you research what each ticket gets you into before you buy.

Those who like to travel in an RV will be looking for a nice campground near Urban Air Adventure Park. There are a few choices that are relatively close, but the park mentioned below is one of the best spots to camp in the state. 

Hammonasset Beach State Park — An absolutely beautiful spot, Hammonasset Beach State Park is located right on the beach, meaning beautiful views and water fun. Water and electric hookups are available, and camping fees are very affordable.

#8. The Dinosaur Place at Nature’s Art Village

Do you have a dinosaur enthusiast on your hands? If so, The Dinosaur Place at Nature’s Art Village is a must-see Connecticut attraction. This Oakdale park features life-size dinosaur replicas that are placed along a peaceful nature trail. Other activities include a splash pad, mini golf, pedal cars, a maze, and more. 

Prices for this park start at just $21.99, and even the most expensive ticket is a mere $29.99. Cost depends on your ages and when you visit.

Make sure to check the calendar before you leave. The park is not open year-round, and even when it is open, not all attractions are available at the beginning and end of the season. If the splash pad will be open during your visit, be sure to pack a swimsuit. Additionally, you will want to leave time to explore the rest of Nature’s Art Village while in the area. 

#9. Ocean Beach Park 

Last but not least, we must mention Ocean Beach Park in New London. If you’re looking for quintessential beachside amusement park fun, this is the spot for you. Not only will you have the opportunity to check out New England’s best sugar sand beach, you’ll also get to check out the playground, sprayground, water slide, arcade, mini golf course, and old-school rides offered here. 

Prices are per-person and per-attraction, and they vary based on the experience. That said, there are plenty of free things to do at the park, including walking trails, playgrounds, the spray park, and of course, enjoying the ocean.

Camping during your beach vacation is always a good idea. This is especially true when you can find a great campground. Fortunately, this won’t be too hard when staying near Ocean Beach Park.
